"Satori"
2011, 50m Heesen, Semi-Displacement Motor Yacht
I had the opportunity at this year's Fort Lauderdale Boat Show to inspect "Satori", a 2011, 50m semi-displacement motor yacht built by Heesen Yachts. She is aluminum construction, thoroughly modern and winner of 6 yachting awards in the large yacht categories. Hull lines are by Omega Architects and her very elegant interior was imagined by Remi Tessier
"Satori" boasts a top speed of 25 knots and is one of the fastest in her class with a proven transatlantic range. She can accommodate 10 guests in 5 staterooms and 9 crew in 5 cabins with separate captain's quarters. The full beam owner’s suite is forward on the main deck. The lower deck houses 2 full beam VIP staterooms fore and aft, and 2 twin cabins port and starboard all with ensuites. Crew cabins are forward and the private captain’s cabin is located on the bridge deck. She is ABS classed and MCA compliant.
"Satori’s" interior is unique and follows Tessier’s design philosophy of luxury being an "art of providing detail without ostentation" and by "exulting the essential". My first impression was one of simplicity but after closer observation you start to see the subtle details that are everywhere. You are left with a sense of refinement with nothing extraneous.
Exterior spaces are divided into four areas which provide dining, lounging and sunning. There is a split-level sun deck aft with Jacuzzi, terrace and bar. On the foredeck there is a cockpit with u-shaped dinette and sun beds and aft there is a dining area on the upper deck and a lower deck cockpit.
Heesen has developed a very interesting platform with this design. She is fast, long range and the most efficient and economical large yacht in the market today. They have a reputation for developing semi-custom designs which have a broad appeal and I don’t see any reason why this 50m should be an exception
