KIRKLAND Yacht Report

I had the pleasure to revisit one of my favorite gentleman's Explorer Yacht in the anchorage during the Monaco Yacht Show. She was easy to spot as her regal looks shone over the many larger vessels in the area.

KIRKLAND, originally built as KIRING in 1993 by Brooke Yachts in England is at 111' (34m), her 30'3" (8.2m) beam makes her one of the largest volume Expedition yachts at 378 GROSS tons for her length that I have ever seen.



At the time she was built Brooke was still building commercial vessels including off shore salvage tugs and KIRKLAND'S hull and structure is based directly from these designs. Her extra heavy hull plating, sea worthy design and 50,000 gallons of fuel make her a true go anywhere Explorer. She was just put back into Lloyds 100 A1, LMC and MCA class in 2014.





The exterior and interior designer Terence Disdale took full advantage of the huge beam and volume in creating a stunning and timeless nautical interior with a fully guest oriented skylounge deck that was well before it's time and not found even today on vessels under 45m. The skylounge deck has a large office/viewing/library room forward with large lounging area taking full advantage of the wrap around windows, aft of that is a comfortable dining area that can be fully opened to the forward lounge and/or opened to the large after deck with exterior dining table and sunning area. As the large tenders are carried forward this whole deck and flybridge which has a full head and shower is dedicated to the owners and guests.





The saloon on the main deck has a bar, extensive seating and a dining/gaming area. The saloon opens open to the aft deck with aft facing viewing settees and access to the stairs via a large opening hatch that provides easy walk down access to the swim ladder giving great to the water and tenders while still having a closed stern for added safety.



The master and 3 guest cabins below are all comfortable and have access to the large sauna. There is the possibility of converting part of the skylounge deck to a large on deck master or VIP stateroom and/or joining the lower Master and VIP to form a huge master suite.





KIRKLAND'S engine room has the space and solid commercial equipment that you would expect in an Explorer Yacht of her heritage and pedigree. She is a proven world cruising Expedition vessel that is waiting for her new owner's to take her on her next adventure.
